Superfoods go giftable in FishVille

Zynga decided to offer a huge surprise to their FishVille fans by introducing the Superfoods as giftables: now you can send an receive Caffeine Food and Supergrow Food from your neighbors, basically saving you for spending quite a few money to keep your fish happy.

The FishVille Caffeine helps your fish last longer without food, doubling the time remaining until a new feeding is needed. The FishVille Growth superfood helps your fish grow a little faster (a bit too slow for my taste, with just 10% growth for one pill).

FishVille celebrates Chinese New Year with new props

February 14 is not only Valentine's Day, but it's also Chinese New Year, which is also called 'Lunar New Year.' FishVile celebrates by releasing appropriately themed decor for your tank.

Those items include a Yellow Tiger Toy, Green Tiger Toy, Red Tiger Toy, Fish Weath Lantern, Lucky Tiger Boy, Lucky Tiger Girl, Golden Tiger, Dragin and a Tiger Gong. All of these are premiums items, meaning it'll cost Sand Dollars (which cost real-life cash) to buy them, except for the Yellow Tiger Toy (29K coins) and Dragon (34K coins).

Fishville Adds Two Special Fish

Two new special fish have been added to the Fishville store: the Dwarf Angelfish and the Prawn Goby. Both require players to jump through some (small) hoops to gain access, however.

To open up the Dwarf Angelfish, players must give Fishville permission to send you emails. While this might sound shady and potentially annoying, in truth this change is the result of a change being made to Facebook itself. Facebook is doing away with its notifications system (the notes that pop up on the bottom right). Since Facebook game makers like Zynga won’t be able to send notifications any more, communications must now be sent via email. Expect all your other Facebook games to begin offering incentives for handing over your email address, as well.

Unlocking the Prawn Goby is simpler – simply add some neighbors.
